We hope you all had a great 4th of July. We had a normal day of training, but it was fun because there was a lot of USA spirit! We all dressed in red, white, and blue (see photo below) and Dalilah had a funny head piece to show her patriotism! Summer training is always eventful because there are so many new and familiar faces that come in and out of the World Arena. Despite the heavy training regimen, we still make time for outdoor activities on the weekends. One weekend Alexa caught 8 little fish and Chris didn’t catch half as many. He made up for it by going to the lake the next day and catching a catfish. (showoff ;))
Broadmoor Open was not too long ago and it was the first time in many years that Dalilah didn’t have any of her teams participate. We debuted our short programs for the season the last two seasons there, but this year we are starting our season a little later. It was inspiring and motivating watching the men and ladies compete their new programs. Having vocals this season is going to be really different. We are already noticing it a lot among the new programs for the season. We have some vocals in our music as well. We are skating to El Tango de Roxanne from Moulin Rouge. The program is very intense and carries a lot of energy. It is a completely different look for us, but we both love this program more than any other. Originally, it was an “out of the box” music choice for us, but it suits us very well and pushes us harder than before. There is an attack and grit that we haven’t experienced in our other programs. Our long program is several pieces from An American in Paris. It is a fun and cute program that portrays a couple in love. We watched the movie before we had it choreographed. Julie did a great job keeping the program seamless and maintaining a nice flow. We also love this program!
Needless to say, the programs are challenging and we are working hard on making them our best. We hope you all will enjoy them as we compete them at Skate America and Trophee Eric Bompard! It would be so meaningful to us if you all came to Skate America to support us. It is in Alexa’s hometown and we are hoping for a loud and enthusiastic crowd. So come join the fun!
